The Glomfjord Grant is Net Zero Compute’s contribution to Norwegian research and innovation for projects with the potential to create lasting value in Norway.

How to apply
The grant is open to Norwegian research communities, universities, institutes and startups headquartered in Norway.
Selected projects receive 12 months access to compute from our operational AI Factory in Glomfjord, delivered on Norwegian infrastructure and under Norwegian jurisdiction, while sensitive data and models remain under the project’s control. Support is awarded as access to GPU time and inference on the Glomfjord cluster, not as a cash payment.
Before you apply
The application consists of one form and a project description of no more than one page.
The project description should explain:
- What the project will investigate, develop or produce
- How it can create value in Norway
- Why its data can or should remain on Norwegian infrastructure
Keep the description concrete. The jury needs to understand the project, the intended outcome and why access to compute from Glomfjord matters.
Who can apply
The Glomfjord Grant is open to:
- Norwegian research communities
- Universities and research institutes
- Startups headquartered in Norway
How projects are selected
- Applications are assessed against the published criteria by a jury representing research, innovation and Net Zero Compute.
- The jury will look for a concrete project, credible value-creation potential in Norway and a clear reason for its data or workloads to remain in Norway.
- Recipients commit to sharing project results publicly and contributing to a case study about the work
How to qualify
To qualify, the application must describe:
- A concrete project
- Its potential to create value in Norway
- Data that can or should remain in Norway
The grant is particularly relevant to projects that require substantial compute for specialised AI workloads while retaining control of sensitive datasets.
Following the award
Sovereign compute in Glomfjord
Grant recipients receive access to compute from Net Zero Compute’s operational AI factory in Glomfjord.
The infrastructure combines compute, renewable energy, physical infrastructure and operations within one AI factory. This gives research and innovation projects access to significant compute without forcing a compromise between capacity and control.
Grant allocation
The NOK 1 million grant will be allocated across 5–10 selected projects, with each project receiving compute valued at NOK 100,000–200,000. The final allocation will depend on the number of projects selected and the needs of each workload.
Compute capacity
Because AI workloads use compute differently, there is no fixed conversion between the grant value and the amount of work it can deliver. The actual capacity available to each project will depend on its workload.
As a reference, the full NOK 1 million grant could correspond to approximately 65 billion inference tokens, based on a reference price of USD 1.50 per million tokens, or approximately 35,000–45,000 H100 GPU hours.
Claude Science running on Norwegian infrastructure
Claude Science is Anthropic’s AI workbench for research, currently in beta. It supports demanding computational workloads running locally or on remote high performance computing clusters through SSH or HPC access.
The Net Zero Compute cluster in Glomfjord is compatible with this type of workflow, enabling researchers to use Norwegian compute while sensitive datasets remain on infrastructure they control.
Workloads run on Norwegian infrastructure, under Norwegian jurisdiction. Sensitive data and models remain under the project’s control.
